Destwin’s roots date back to the earliest days of the internet. Having developed web based social media, robust shopping cart, and custom home inspection applications in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Destwin was familiar with the demands of login privacy and secure payment web applications. Located in Monroe, CT in the mid-2000’s, we were looking for new vertical markets for our technology.

Enter Gary Sippin, our landlord and soon to be co-founder of Destwin Energy Systems. In addition to being our landlord, Gary owned Sippin Energy, an Energy Marketer also located in Monroe and Gary was (and remains) a technology hound always looking for ways to improve operations through technology. Around 2005, through a series of meetings over many months mostly at the Last Drop Coffee Shop, Gary, along with Destwin Energy Systems co-founder Bill West, formulated a plan for how to allow Gary’s customers to access their account information online, pay their bills, and enter price protection contracts – and the Destwin Energy Systems Fuel Dealer Solution (FDS) was born.

By 2007, it became apparent that there was a business opportunity for FDS. Destwin itself was a small group of highly skilled programmers. If we were to succeed and grow in this new vertical market, additional business infrastructure in the form of administrative support as well as IT and hosting support would be needed. Destwin looked to a known and trusted affiliate and engaged INT, Inc. to fulfill these roles, allowing the core Destwin staff to remain tightly focused on software product development. Gary would lead the sales effort.

By 2010, we had over forty customers and the demands on Gary’s time were continuing to increase. Taylor Hudson was hired as VP of Sales. Taylor’s background in hedging helped to enhance and improve our Advanced Risk Management (ARM) module. A growth spurt ensued with Destwin more than doubling our customer base in a year and adding the Energy Wholesaler Solution (EWS) to our product line.

Throughout the early twenty-teens, Destwin continued to meet the expanding needs of its customers, interface to additional backend systems, and add functionality in the form of new modules to the base FDS platform. Interfaces to more gateways, document providers, tank monitors, third party chat software, and other software providers were also implemented over time.

While our office in Monroe had built-in room for expansion when we first began, by the end of 2016 we were looking to expand a bit more and moved our home office to a larger and more upscale facility in Sandy Hook. It was also in this general time frame that the demands for mobile usage and apps became increasingly apparent and the decision was made to develop the Destwin Connect Mobile App for FDS. Development began in earnest in 2017 and the first customer app was released in July of 2018.

In the years since our inception, Destwin has implemented more than two hundred FDS portals, interfaced to more than a dozen backend systems and payment gateways and worked with fuel dealers throughout the USA and Canada. Destwin has grown into a fully compliant PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider, processing over a billion dollars for our merchants annually. Today we remain committed to keeping abreast of the newest technologies, providing innovative solutions and customizations, and dedicated to delivering timely technical support to our customers.
